John Casey

Author of eight books, including Spartina, for which he won the 1980 National Book Award. His writing, whether fiction or non-fiction, never omits the fact of nature. Casey took on the challenge in a personal way with his 2011 publication of Room for Improvement, a series of essays on his own physical confrontations with nature over many years. Whether fiction or non-fiction, the key word for Casey is challenge, and for him, nature is the arena which has offered the most rewards, both in writing and in person.
